Volleyball Recap: Yuma Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Yuma was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Wray Eagles. The Outlaws have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Yuma took Wray into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-7, 25-19, 15-25, 15-12.

Berkley Nighswonger paced Yuma's offense, picking up ten kills. Nighswonger got some help from Bailey Nighswonger and her 24 assists. Bailey also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lindsey Hermosillo, each putting up two.

Yuma's win ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 9-13. As for Wray, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Yuma will take on Limon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wray, they will head out on the road to square off against Caliche at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
