Softball Recap: Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves vs. Speedway Sparkplugs

After flying high against Bethesda Christian last Wednesday, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory came back down to earth. The Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Speedway Sparkplugs on Friday. It was the first time this season that Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory let down their fans at home.

Emma Hamblin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Kaylie Virkus made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with a home run.

On Speedway's side, Hayli Clampitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Clampitt has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Clampitt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
