Benjamin suffers sixth straight loss at home

Recap: Benjamin Buccaneers vs. North Broward Prep Eagles

The Benjamin Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their tenth straight loss. They took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Broward Prep. While losing is never fun, Benjamin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while North Broward Prep is ranked 146th).

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was D'sani Escobedo, who scored 13 points. Escobedo continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ja?nyia Donaldson, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Broward Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makena Longo, who scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Longo has scored all season. Alexa Schwartz was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Benjamin's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for North Broward Prep, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Benjamin will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Broward Prep, North Broward Prep and Somerset Academy - Canyons will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
