Brighton has gone a perfect 10-0 against East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Brighton will face off against East at 4:00 p.m. Brighton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Brighton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Chaparral a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. The Bengals not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 20, 2024.
Case Beames tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Jonathon Ellis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. River Schmidt was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Dixie, falling 12-2.
East saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beckham Christensen, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Christensen brought in this season.
The win got Brighton back to even at 2-2. As for East, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
East's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Brighton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for East, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Brighton keep running through batters, or will East buck the trend?
Brighton took their victory against East when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brighton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
