Basketball Recap: Union Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Union can now relate to. They fell to the Richfield Wildcats 51-46. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost eight in a row.

Despite the defeat, Union saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lisa Richards went 6-for-13 en route to 18 points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Richards has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payzlei Parrish, who posted six points.

It was another big night for Abbee Albrecht, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards for Richfield. The dominant performance also gave Albrecht a new career-high in blocks (seven). Another player making a difference was Katie Anderson, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 12 points.

Union's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Richfield, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11.

Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up.
