Basketball Game Preview: Woodmont Wildcats vs. Gaffney Indians

The Woodmont Wildcats will head out to square off against the Gaffney Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodmont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Woodmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Catawba Ridge 58-30 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since November 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, Gaffney entered their tilt with Boiling Springs on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 58-13 win over the Bulldogs. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Gaffney's win came from a few key players Woodmont will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Shiriah Harris, who went 7-for-13 en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Her evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Tianah 'TT' Hopper was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points and four steals.

Gaffney was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boiling Springs only posted one assist.

Gaffney's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points over those games. As for Woodmont, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Woodmont strolled past Gaffney in their previous meeting back in February of 2018 by a score of 57-43. Will Woodmont repeat their success, or does Gaffney have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
