Football Recap: Custer County Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Custer County extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-5. They took a blow against the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds, falling 42-14. If the Bobcats were looking for revenge after losing 54-16 to the Thunderbirds when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Sangre de Cristo, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbirds, who have now won four games by 22 points or more so far this season.

Sangre de Cristo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deklin Beiriger, who threw for 137 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 39 yards and a pair of scores. Beiriger's passing game has become a key predictor of the Thunderbirds' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Kolby Shellabarger was another key back, gaining 214 total yards and a touchdown.

As of now, neither Custer County nor Sangre de Cristo have any future games scheduled.
