Baseball Recap: Lexington Find Success

Lexington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Rogers Pirates by a score of 7-2 on Monday. This was payback for the Golden Bears, who suffered a 10-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Aiden Davis looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he also posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, Lexington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conner Scheetz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Jake Lard was another, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Rogers' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Lexington is taking a road trip to challenge Sheffield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rogers, they will challenge Colbert Heights at 4:00 p.m. on February 25th.
