Softball Recap: Caldwell Wins Going Away Against Bishop Rosecrans

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caldwell). Everything went their way against the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops on Friday as they made off with a 14-4 win. That's two games straight that the Redskins have won by exactly ten runs.

Laynie Sidwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Sidwell was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Asie Poland, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Hanna Reiter, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Caldwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Caldwell's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Bishop Rosecrans, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Caldwell has already played their next matchup (against Monroe Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Bishop Rosecrans, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-2 defeat against Crooksville on the 29th.
