Baseball Game Preview: Harrison Raiders vs. Lafayette Central Catholic Knights

The Harrison Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harrison will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Harrison earned a 5-1 victory over Lafayette Jefferson.

Chase Gothrup looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nolan Hodnett was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kendrick Pena also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Lafayette Central Catholic made easy work of Rensselaer Central on Tuesday and carried off an 11-1 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Lafayette Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 10-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Harrison, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Harrison came up short against Lafayette Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
