Softball Game Preview: South Decatur Cougars vs. Morristown Yellow Jackets

The South Decatur Cougars will challenge the Morristown Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

South Decatur played against Hauser on Saturday and lost via forfeit.

Morristown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Waldron. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sawyer Rogers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. Rogers was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nevaeh Cox was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Avery Everhart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Morristown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waldron only posted an OBP of .360.

South Decatur's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-10. As for Morristown, the win also got them back to even at 10-10.

South Decatur suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Morristown in their previous matchup on May 9th. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
