Football Game Preview: Stansbury Stallions vs. Sky View Bobcats

Stansbury is 0-4 against Sky View since August of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Stallions will take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Stansbury is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 26.9 points per game this season.

Stansbury is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 55 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Ridgeline on Friday. They had to suffer through a 40-6 loss at the hands of the Riverhawks. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Riverhawks are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Sky View got themselves on the board against Deseret Peak on Friday, but Deseret Peak never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Golden Eagles 55-0. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for the Bobcats this season.

Sky View's win came from a few key players Stansbury will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jack Clark, who threw for 321 yards and six touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 26 passing touchdowns on the season. Sky View's leading receiver Zachary Oxborrow was Clark's top target yet again, picking up 140 receiving yards and three TDs.

Sky View pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.0 points on average over those games. As for Stansbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Thursday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Brighton Reutzel and Clark. Reutzel just won't slow down this season and has thrown 22 touchdowns while averaging 235 passing yards per game. Clark has been a dominant force too and has thrown 26 touchdowns while averaging 295.4 passing yards per game.

Stansbury couldn't quite get it done against Sky View in their previous meeting back in August of 2020 as they fell 35-27. Can the Stallions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
