Softball Recap: Cesar E. Chavez's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of six wins, Cesar E. Chavez's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Atascocita Eagles.

Cesar E. Chavez saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izarely Almaguer, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Almaguer also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Even though they lost, Cesar E. Chavez hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in five consecutive matches.

Cesar E. Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Atascocita, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3.

Coming up, Cesar E. Chavez will face off against King at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. King's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Cesar E. Chavez's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Atascocita, they will challenge Grand Oaks at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Atascocita 2.7, Grand Oaks 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
