Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kali Jensen and Katelyn Nielson Lead Emery to Victory

Emery waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 48-36 victory over the Juab Wasps. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 60-50 win the Wasps walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Leading Emery to victory were Katelyn Nielson and Kali Jensen. Nielson almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards, while Jensen posted 11 points and six steals. The match was Nielson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Kabree Gordon was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Several Wasps players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gracelyn Harmon, who earned ten points and five boards. Harmon is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailee Hall, who had five points and nine rebounds.

Emery has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Juab, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Emery didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-31 victory against Delta on the 16th. Juab has also already played their next match, a 50-47 win against Carbon on the 16th.
