Athens skates past Canton with ease

The Athens Wildcats came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Canton on the road to the tune of 66-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Athens has posted against Canton since December 19, 2018.

Athens' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Connor Mosher, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Mosher hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Jacob, who scored 14 points.

Athens is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens will take on Wellsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wellsboro is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Canton, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Northeast Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Northeast Bradford is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
