Volleyball Recap: Smithville Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Smithville had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Grandview Bulldogs as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Smithville took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-14, 25-6.

Smithville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Swenson led the charge by getting 12 assists and five aces. Those five aces gave Swenson a new career-high. Lexie Seifert was another key player, getting three digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Smithville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matches.

Smithville's record now sits at 15-3. As for Grandview, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Smithville has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Excelsior Springs on the 2nd. Grandview has also already played their next contest (against Lincoln College Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
