Football Recap: Sunlake Piles Up the Points Against Wiregrass Ranch

While Sunlake put up plenty of points on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Wiregrass Ranch. The Seahawks simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bulls 32-0. Considering the Seahawks have won eight games by more than 19 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sunlake found their leader in sophomore Kate Smith, who rushed for 59 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of her passes. Smith's passing game has become a key predictor of the Seahawks' success: the team is undefeated when her passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Miley Falby was in the mix as well, providing Sunlake with two scores.

Sunlake didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Skylar Graffam and Kennedy Schaer. Schaer has been hot, having also posted at least one defended passe the last six times she's played.

Sunlake is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.0 points over those games. As for Wiregrass Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Sunlake has already played their next contest (against Nature Coast Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they will face off against Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulls surely won't give up without a fight.
