Softball Recap: Beecher Comes Up Short

Beecher fell victim to Lincoln-Way East and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Griffins, falling 6-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bobcats were not able to get on the board.

Taylor Norkus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Beecher saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Lorenzatti, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Beecher's loss dropped their record down to 21-1. As for Lincoln-Way East, their victory bumped their record up to 17-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beecher will welcome Clifton Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Comets have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Lincoln-Way East, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lincoln-Way Central at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Griffins have won nine straight at home, while the Knights won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
