Basketball Recap: Mohave Takes a Loss

If Mohave was feeling good fresh off their 46-24 takedown of Arcadia last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mohave Thunderbirds might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Bradshaw Mountain Bears an easy 42-16 win. The Thunderbirds haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

It was another big night for Kalli Smith, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 10 points in addition to eight boards and five assists for Bradshaw Mountain. Smith has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenna Martinez, who posted six points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Mohave's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Bradshaw Mountain, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Mohave will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Benjamin Franklin at 9:30 a.m. on January 3, 2025. Bradshaw Mountain also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Cibola at 12:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
