Soccer Recap: Union Grove Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Belleville West, Union Grove was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Quincy Blue Devils by a score of 3-1. Given Union Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 33rd in Wisconsin, while Quincy are ranked 187th in Illinois) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rhyan Hood and Ruby Christiansen scored all three of Union Grove's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Union Grove has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those five contests. As for Quincy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Coming up, Union Grove will square off against Waterford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Quincy, they will take on Glenbard South in a tournament on Friday.
