The Mayfield Wildcats will head out to square off against the Riverside Beavers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mayfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 86-56 win over North. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Rangers since December 10, 2021.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mayfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angelo Newman, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points. Newman's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Shane Jones was another key player, going 6 of 10 en route to 21 points.
Mayfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Riverside didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against South on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 65-61 win. Given the Beavers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Rebels are ranked 558th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mayfield better keep an eye on Drew Brown. He was instrumental in Riverside's win, going 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Kyle Harden, who went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points.
Riverside is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Mayfield, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
Mayfield came up short against Riverside in their previous meeting on January 7th, falling 70-66. Can Mayfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
