Basketball Recap: Valley Vikings vs. Cibola Cougars
The Valley Vikings won the last time they faced the Cibola Cougars, and things went their way on Saturday too. Valley strolled past the Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 59-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Valley.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tayton Gomez, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gomez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Cibola, they are on a 19-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.
Valley will be playing at home against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Bernalillo is ranked 64th, while the Vikings are ranked 67th). As for Cibola, they will head out on the road to square off against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
