Softball Preview: West Rusk Raiders vs. Arp Tigers

The matchup between West Rusk and Elysian Fields last Tuesday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. West Rusk came out on top against Elysian Fields by a score of 13-8. The victory was just what West Rusk needed coming off of an 8-2 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Arp stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Waskom a 15-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but Arp sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
L Fletcher made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Fletcher was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, J Potts was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. M Birdsong was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
West Rusk's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Arp, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
