Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Finds Home Court Redemption Against Utica

There's no place like home for Mt. Vernon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Utica Redskins by a score of 54-45 on Tuesday. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Redskins are ranked 707th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Vernon is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Utica, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will challenge Watkins Memorial at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Utica has already played their next contest (against Johnstown-Monroe), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
