Alpine is a perfect 10-0 against Kermit since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bucks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Alpine's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Kermit has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Alpine will bounce into Monday's game after beating Tornillo, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bucks were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Coyotes on Tuesday. Considering the Bucks have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Alpine let Ezra Lujan and Aj Llanez run wild. Lujan went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Llanez went 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Llanez a new career-high. Iden Lujan was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Alpine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Kermit hadn't done well against Presidio recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets blew past the Blue Devils 10-1.
Mauricio Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kermit is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise. Perez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kermit got a massive performance out of Zeke Carrasco, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. Carrasco has become a key player for the Yellow Jackets: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Evan Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Alpine has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kermit, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Alpine came out on top in a nail-biter against Kermit in their previous matchup on April 4th, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Bucks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellow Jackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
