Luling hadn't done well against Nixon-Smiley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles secured a 51-45 W over the Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-43 back in January.

Despite the loss, Nixon-Smiley still got an impressive performance from Gabriela Limon, who posted seven points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Sky'Lee Pape, who had ten points and seven boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Luling and bumps their season record up to 8-22. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 5-26 Nixon-Smiley and 9-16 Karnes City. As for Nixon-Smiley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-26 record this season.
