Basketball Game Preview: Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees vs. Rockport-Fulton Pirates

The Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees will head out on the road to challenge the Rockport-Fulton Pirates at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Tuloso-Midway is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Cornerstone Christian on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Tuloso-Midway lost 75-53 to Cornerstone Christian. While losing is never fun, the Warriors & Cherokees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1183rd, while the Warriors are ranked 102nd).

Meanwhile, Rockport-Fulton suffered their closest loss since November 18, 2023 on Monday. They fell just short of Calallen by a score of 48-46.

Tuloso-Midway will have to keep a close watch on Brian Kizer Jr and Roman Cox, a pair of players who had a big impact on Rockport-Fulton's prior game. Kizer Jr posted 13 points and five steals, while Cox put up 14 points. What's more, Cox also racked up four rebounds, the most he's had since back in November. Another player making a difference was Austin Broder, who had six points.

Tuloso-Midway has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Rockport-Fulton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.

Tuloso-Midway beat Rockport-Fulton 85-76 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tuloso-Midway since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
