Volleyball Recap: Sofia Dean Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Ransom Everglades

Immaculata-La Salle hadn't done well against Ransom Everglades recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Royal Lions walked away with a 3-1 win over the Raiders. This was payback for the Royal Lions, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Immaculata-La Salle had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Immaculata-La Salle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sofia Dean led the charge by getting 42 assists and five digs. Those 42 assists gave Dean a new career-high. Sofia Rosales also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Ransom Everglades lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nalah Picchetti, who had 20 digs and five aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 aces per game. Another player making a difference was Myla Zuckerman, who had 24 digs and three aces.

Immaculata-La Salle's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Ransom Everglades, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Immaculata-La Salle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Mater Lakes Academy on the 17th. Ransom Everglades has also already played their next match (against Downtown Doral), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
