Softball Game Preview: Van Bulldogs vs. Tolsia Rebels

The Van Bulldogs will head out to take on the Tolsia Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Van has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 24.

Van fell victim to Greenbrier West and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Cavaliers.

Tolsia came out on top against Cross Lanes Christian on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Rebels blew past the Warriors 10-2. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Kalynn Salmons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tolsia got a big performance out of Keira Maynard, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Kendra Maynard, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Tolsia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Van's loss dropped their record down to 3-23. As for Tolsia, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Van might still be hurting after the 14-5 defeat they got from Tolsia in their previous meeting last Saturday. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
