Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Firebirds vs. Campo Verde Coyotes

For the second straight game, Chaparral will face off against Campo Verde. The Firebirds will challenge the Coyotes at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Chaparral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Chaparral's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Campo Verde as they made off with a 7-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.

Not much got past Devin Long, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Campo Verde off the board. Long has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chaparral saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Mesa, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Campo Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Chaparral, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
