Softball Game Preview: Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs vs. Nevada Cubs

The Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Nevada Cubs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Prairie City-Monroe is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Prairie City-Monroe had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Grand View Christian on Friday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Thunder. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Nevada was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost 13-1 to Greene County. The loss put an end to the Cubs' undefeated start to the season.

Prairie City-Monroe pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Nevada, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Prairie City-Monroe took their victory against Nevada in their previous meeting back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cubs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
