Softball Recap: Cumberland Takes a Loss

Cumberland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 9-1 to the Okaw Valley Timberwolves. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Timberwolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Cumberland's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Okaw Valley, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland will face off against Cerro Gordo/Bement at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Okaw Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Timberwolves are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
