Volleyball Recap: Mitchell Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Mitchell and Salem, and Salem kept the tradition alive. The Bluejackets took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions on Saturday. The Bluejackets have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Mitchell was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Salem work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-20.

Miley Teague paced Mitchell's offense, picking up six kills. Teague got some help from Abigail Fountain and her 13 assists. Miley Pruett and Allison Hudson kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Salem, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Mitchell has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Perry Central on the 16th. As for Salem, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Borden on the 16th.
