Basketball Recap: Hopewell-Loudon Takes a Loss

If Hopewell-Loudon was riding high fresh off their 66-38 takedown of Danbury last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains fell to the Gibsonburg Golden Bears 46-42. The Chieftains were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Bears earlier this season, when they won 50-41.

Gibsonburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reece Walby led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Wasserman, who posted seven points and 12 rebounds.

Hopewell-Loudon's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Gibsonburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Hopewell-Loudon will be playing in front of their home fans against Calvert at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvert will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Hopewell-Loudon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gibsonburg, they will face off against Lakota at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gibsonburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
