Volleyball Game Preview: St. Xavier Bombers vs. Floyd Central Highlanders

The St. Xavier Bombers are taking a road trip to square off against the Floyd Central Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Xavier will be strutting in after a win while Floyd Central will be coming in after a loss.

St. Xavier had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt La Salle on Thursday. The Bombers put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 3-0 victory.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-13, 25-17.

St. Xavier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Payton led the charge by getting 24 assists. Another player making a difference was Leo Miller, who had three digs and two aces.

St. Xavier was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are a perfect 4-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Floyd Central lost 3-0 to Trinity on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Highlanders in their meetings with the Shamrocks: they've now lost seven in a row.

Floyd Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for St. Xavier, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
