Basketball Recap: Grace Beckler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Basha over Perry

If Basha was riding high fresh off their 79-26 takedown of South Mountain last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Basha Bears fell to the Perry Pumas 62-57. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pumas 18-12 in the first quarter.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grace Beckler, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Amira Reynolds, who posted nine points along with seven boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Basha smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matches.

Basha's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Perry, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Basha will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinnacle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinnacle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. As for Perry, they will venture away from home to face off against Casteel at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.
