Volleyball Recap: Southwestern Randolph Cougars vs. Watauga Pioneers
Southwestern Randolph was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Watauga Pioneers. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Pioneers from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.
While Southwestern Randolph was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Watauga's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-20, 25-22.
Cheyenne Dixon paced Southwestern Randolph's offense, picking up eight kills. Dixon got some help from Hailey Kennedy and her 15 assists. Finally, Bailey Blackmon kept Southwestern Randolph's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.
Leading Watauga to victory were Caroline Childers and Lilli Combs. Childers had 22 digs and two assists, while Combs had 12 digs and two assists. Childers is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last nine games she's played dating back to last season.
