Plattsburgh is 9-1 against Lake Placid since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Bombers at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Plattsburgh is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Beekmantown just ended the team's five-match winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Hornets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Eagles since Thursday.
Plattsburgh was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Beekmantown work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 25-12.
Meanwhile, Lake Placid came up short against Peru on Tuesday, falling 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-14, 25-18.
Plattsburgh will need to focus on slowing down Ellie Shipman, one of several Lake Placid players who made an impact when they last played. She had four aces and three digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Adiss Livesey-Ferry, who had seven digs and four aces.
Plattsburgh suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 10-3. As for Lake Placid, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Everything went Plattsburgh's way against Lake Placid when the teams last played back in September, as Plattsburgh made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
