Baseball Game Preview: West Shore Christian Academy vs. Coventry Christian

West Shore Christian Academy will face off against Coventry Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Shore Christian Academy has four straight wins, Coventry Christian has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While West Shore Christian Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Lancaster Mennonite by a score of 6-2 on Friday.

Connor Edwards made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Memphis Barron, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Coventry Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 16-0 to Conestoga Christian two weeks ago.

West Shore Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Coventry Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

West Shore Christian Academy took their win against Coventry Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 25-12. Will West Shore Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Coventry Christian has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
