Softball Game Preview: Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars vs. Shorecrest Prep Chargers

The Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars will face off against the Shorecrest Prep Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Academy of the Holy Names is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. They came out on top against Land O' Lakes by a score of 5-2. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Taylor Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Academy of the Holy Names' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Elise McQuiston, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another was Ava LaBarbera, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Shorecrest Prep never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Seffner Christian as Shorecrest Prep made off with an 11-0 win.

Academy of the Holy Names took their victory against Shorecrest Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 15-0. Does Academy of the Holy Names have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shorecrest Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
