Softball Recap: Rio Mesa's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rio Mesa won against Buena last Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Spartans walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Bulldogs. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won three contests in a row.

Analia Lopez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jocelyn Gomez, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Rihyana Alvarez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Rio Mesa's record now sits at 13-5. As for Buena, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11.
