Baseball Recap: Three Rivers Sets Scoring Season-High Against La Pryor

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Three Rivers). They put the hurt on La Pryor with a sharp 19-1 victory on Tuesday. With that win, Three Rivers brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Cody Sells made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, James Contreras was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Xavier Carranza, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Three Rivers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Three Rivers pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 15.67 hits in those games compared to only 3.83 in the others. As for La Pryor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Three Rivers will square off against Falls City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Falls City will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Three Rivers surely won't give up without a fight. As for La Pryor, they will take on D'Hanis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
