Baseball Recap: Vanlue Wildcats vs. Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets
Vanlue is still winless after their contest against Cory-Rawson on Thursday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fighting Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 14-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Bryce Wallen put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Toby Reed made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Vanlue's record is now 0-21. As for Cory-Rawson, their win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-13.
