Basketball Recap: Timothy Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Maria Pozdol Niego and Elisabeth Van Den Berg

If Timothy Christian was feeling good fresh off their 59-19 takedown of Thornwood on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans took a hard 55-40 fall against the DePaul College Prep Rams on Wednesday. The loss put an end to the Trojans' undefeated start to the season.

Timothy Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Elisabeth Van Den Berg and Maria Pozdol Niego. Van Den Berg dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards, while Pozdol Niego shot 50% from the field on her way to 11 points. Van Den Berg is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DePaul College Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Giordano, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramiyah Puckett, who posted 13 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Timothy Christian fell to 2-1. As for DePaul College Prep, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, Timothy Christian will challenge Parkview Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DePaul College Prep, they will face off against Montini Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Rams' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
