Basketball Recap: Memphis Rise Academy Comes Up Short

Memphis Rise Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were dealt a 100-39 defeat at the hands of the Memphis Business Academy Execs on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Memphis Rise Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Memphis Business Academy is ranked 103rd).

It was another big night for Larry Benson, who shot 10-for-12 from deep and dropped a double-double on 41 points and 11 assists for Memphis Business Academy. The match was Benson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Caswell, who went 8 of 10 on his way to 20 points along with five assists and five boards.

Memphis Rise Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Memphis Business Academy, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Memphis Rise Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against University at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Memphis Business Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Trezevant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
