Carter-Riverside was beaten by Castleberry 62-20 on Thursday. Carter-Riverside was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Castleberry apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Carter-Riverside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jameer Muhammad. Despite the final result, he rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown. Muhammad was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards.
Castleberry's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayden Perez, who rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Isaiah Ford was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
Carter-Riverside's defeat was their fifth straight at home , which bumped their record down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.0 points per game. As for Castleberry, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
