Baseball Recap: Poplarville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Poplarville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Hancock Hawks on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Hawks last Tuesday, they had to take a 9-8 loss.

Hayden Harris looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Trac Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Peyton Picasso also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Poplarville now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.

Poplarville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-1 victory against West Marion on the 22nd. As for Hancock, they have also already played their next matchup, a 7-0 win against Bay on the 25th.
