Basketball Recap: Pleasant Ridge Starts off Right with Win over Oskaloosa

Pleasant Ridge gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Oskaloosa Bears by a score of 67-58. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Canon Duncan was nothing short of spectacular: he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Brady Mance, who posted 17 points and six rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Oskaloosa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Richie Rockhold went 7 of 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Subelka, who had ten points.

Pleasant Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-38 victory against McLouth on the 10th. As for Oskaloosa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-45 loss against Valley Falls on the 10th.
