Football Recap: Freedom Eagles vs. Lightridge Bolts
Freedom kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were dealt a 39-0 loss at the hands of the Lightridge Bolts. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Bolts are ranked 90th).
A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Brady White and his top target Wade Lechner. White threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while completing 94.7% of his passes while Lechner picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Al Honesty did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 84 receiving yards.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freedom will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Patriot at 7:00 p.m. on September 13th. As for Lightridge, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they face off against John Champe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
