Recap: Newsome Wolves vs. Riverview Sharks
The Newsome Wolves fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Riverview Sharks on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Sharks by a score of 35-32. While losing is never fun, Newsome can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Riverview is ranked 92nd).
Riverview can attribute much of their success to Kaylee Dominguez, who scored 8 points along with 8 steals. Another player making a difference was Kayaunna Dean, who scored 10 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds.
Newsome now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Riverview, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Newsome will head out on the road to face off against Spoto at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spoto has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Riverview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Plant City at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plant City comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
